These Things | John 21:24–25

In the closing verses of the Gospel of John, the apostle reminds us that Jesus did many things that were never written. Yet the things that were written were recorded under the direction of the Holy Ghost so that we might know the truth about Jesus Christ.

John wrote these things so that people might believe, be saved, grow in holiness, and remain grounded in sound doctrine.

In this sermon, we examine the purpose behind John’s writings and how the Word of God is sufficient for our lives today. The Bible contains exactly what God intended for us to know, and its message is sealed with the final word of the Gospel of John: Amen.

In this message:

• Salvation through believing on Jesus Christ

• Sanctification through the purifying word of God

• Sound doctrine that protects believers from deception

The testimony is true.

The record is complete.

The witness stands.

And just as Christ sealed the truth of the Gospel with Amen, He can seal your life with an Amen if you will believe Him.

The Gospel

The Bible teaches that salvation is not earned by good works but received by believing on Jesus Christ. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” — John 3:36.

If you have never trusted Christ as your Saviour, today is the day to believe on Him and receive the gift of eternal life.
