Making The Word Of None Effect

“Making The Word Of God Of None Effect” - Mark 7:13

This is quite possibly the worst condition to be in, besides one making Christ of no effect, “ye that are justified by the law”

(Gal.5:4).

Laying aside God’s words (“commandments”) is bad enough, but to replace them with, hold to, and keep your own traditions or the traditions of men is to flat-out reject the words of God.

Once the word of God has been rejected, the scriptures will no longer have their desired effect in your church, home, or heart.

This is a cold, miserable place to be in your Christian life. It’s living on the outside of fellowship with Jesus Christ, and this is a place of darkness, according to 1 John 1:7-9. When you are there, even as a child of God, not only will the word of God (i.e., preaching, teaching, reading, etc.) not have any effect, but neither does Jesus Christ have any effect.

The laying aside and rejection of God’s words is a symptom of a deeper sin issue that can only be identified with the desire to have the word of God effect you the way it used to. It will require a time of confession and repentance to break up the hard heart and be renewed in a spirit of unity and fellowship with Jesus Christ.
