Check Your Mirror At The Door

Mar 22, 2026    Pastor Jeff Smith

In this message from Hebrews 10:22–25, Pastor Jeff Smith examines the biblical responsibility of the church to exhort one another, especially as we see the day of Christ approaching.

Before we can effectively exhort others, we must first prepare our own hearts by drawing near to God, holding fast to our faith, and considering one another. This message highlights the importance of faithful church assembly, not as mere attendance, but as active participation in encouraging and strengthening fellow believers.

Using the powerful picture from Exodus 38:8, we are reminded to “check our mirror at the door.” Just as the women gave their looking glasses for the laver of cleansing, we must lay aside pride, vanity, and self-focus when we come to church. The word of God becomes the true mirror that inspects, convicts, and washes our hearts.

In a day marked by falling away and increasing apostasy, this message is a call to remain part of the faithful remnant. As the Scriptures declare, the nearer the day, the greater the need for exhortation.
