Somebody Wake Up the Preacher

Text: Jonah 1:1–6

Jonah, chapter one, presents a sobering picture of spiritual decline in the life of a prophet who knowingly ran from God's will, while the storm raged, and the mariners feared for their lives, Jonah slept in the bottom of the ship.

This message examines three major truths from the passage:

Jonah Went Contrary

Jonah Went Conveniently

Jonah Went Carelessly

This sermon also compares Jonah's storm with the storm in Mark chapter four. Jonah slept while running from the will of God, but Jesus slept while perfectly submitted to it. This message challenges pastors, deacons, teachers, church leaders, and all believers to remain spiritually awake in dangerous and compromising days.
