Spiritual Blessings are Found in the Will of God
Spiritual Blessings
Text: Ephesians 1:1–3
In the opening verses of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul introduces one of the richest books in the New Testament by identifying himself as "an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God." Before Paul discusses the spiritual blessings that believers possess in Christ, he begins with the importance of being in the will of God.
Throughout Ephesians, Paul repeatedly emphasizes God's will. We read about the pleasure of His will, the mystery of His will, the counsel of His own will, understanding the will of the Lord, doing the will of God from the heart, and serving the Lord with good will. These reminders teach us that God's will is not random, accidental, or burdensome. It is purposeful, personal, and profitable for every child of God.
Paul's own ministry serves as an example. He was not called by men, promoted by men, or sustained by men. He was an apostle by the will of God. His calling came from God, through God, and for God. The same principle applies to every believer. Whether in ministry, family, work, or service, true spiritual blessing begins when we submit ourselves to God's will rather than our own.
Ephesians is often called the believer's bank account because it reveals the riches we possess in Christ. Yet those blessings are best enjoyed when we walk in obedience to the One who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
Join us as we begin our study through the Book of Ephesians and discover the abundant spiritual blessings that belong to every believer in Jesus Christ.
