The Mystery of the Seven Stars
The Mystery of the Seven Stars and Candlesticks
In this study of Revelation 1:20, we examine: the seven stars and the seven golden candlesticks. What do they mean, and how do they apply to the church today?
The Lord Jesus Christ is seen standing in the midst of the candlesticks, revealing his authority, presence, and preeminence in the church. The candlesticks represent, historically, the churches of Asia; spiritually, the seven stages of the church age; and prophetically, the seven local church of the tribulation. While the angels represent their angels or ministers. This truth reminds us of a vital responsibility: every preacher, teacher, and message must be tested by the word of God.
We also explore the deeper biblical patterns connected to this mystery—how the number seven points to completion, how forty-nine leads to jubilee, and how Christ stands as the fullness and fulfillment of all light, liberty, and atonement. From the tabernacle pattern in Exodus to the outpouring at Pentecost, Scripture consistently points to Jesus Christ as the central Light.
